I recently worked at S&W as a Marketing Assistant for just over a year. During my time there I gained a lot of valuable experience and skills that I will take with me throughout the rest of my career. I am extremely grateful to them for giving me my first industry experience out of university.
My main role at S&W was to create and maintain the Chilled, Fresh and Frozen brochure which was printed and delivered to customers on a 3 weekly basis. I would then work on any other design work that came into the department such as sales one pagers or People and Culture requests.
Chilled, Fresh & Frozen (CFF)
The CFF brochure was usually in around 40-50 pages and was completely filled with most of the products we had to offer in this section. I would receive product information from the trading team and then translate this into the brochure ensuring all the products were included with accurate pricing and imagery. Each promotion I got to be a bit creative with the front cover and create something up in photoshop which would hopefully make the brochure standout that little bit more compared to competitors. I would usually include products that were either a WOW deal in that particular promotion or products we particularly wanted to push.
Christmas Front Cover
Every year S&W do a seasonal Christmas brochure that includes all the stock shops would want to order on the lead up to the holiday season. As this brochure went to all customers and was only printed once a year I wanted to create a front cover that was different and stood out more from our usual promotional brochures. Christmas to me is about giving so I went with the idea of making the cover look like an envelope which was sent to each of our customers. Keeping within the S&W brand colours I wanted to create something that looked elegant and upmarket. See my cover which went to print below.
Impulse Ice Cream Range
S&W wanted to bring in a new impulse Ice Cream range for Northern customers. To help launch this I was tasked with creating a graphic which would make the range stand out from the rest of the brochure. Unilever were able to send in all the Ice Cream packaging for each product in the range, it was nice being able to work with all the high quality assets.
One Pagers
Often the sales team would request one pagers to help push specific product deals. We could get quite a lot of these sent in at certain times of the year so I liked to keep the design simple, showcasing the products and the pricing. This format kept it easy for myself to create them as needed and made it easy for customers to understand.
People & Culture
The People and Culture team would often request design/marketing support for campaign they wanted to run in the business. I was able to help out on a few of these creating, posters, social media and internal communication graphics.
